🎒 Education Schools programme South Wales
CALM, PRACTICAL, HANDS-ON

Practical growing sessions that schools can actually run

We bring steady, hands-on learning into school life. Food, soil, seasons, and real-world skills that stick.

🌱 What pupils do

Hands-on, calm, and memorable

Grow food
Sow, plant, water, harvest, and understand seasons.
Soil and compost
What soil is, how it works, and how we look after it.
Food systems
Where food comes from and why local matters.
Confidence
Responsibility, teamwork, and pride in real outcomes.

How it happened
We started by running practical sessions and earning trust with families and schools locally. The children engaged straight away because it was real, not classroom theory. That led to more requests, and we kept it simple so staff could actually host it. Now we’re working with five schools and creating a model that can grow without burning anyone out.
This connects directly into the bigger “From Soil to Community” vision, but schools benefit right now.
What schools get
Low stress to host with clear session structure
Curriculum-friendly outcomes and enrichment value
A garden plan that does not get abandoned
Real community link to local food and farming

How it’s funded
Some schools cover sessions from enrichment or wellbeing budgets. Some is supported through our farm education work and community backing. We keep it sensible and flexible so schools can take part without it becoming a headache.

We can help you build it properly

If your school wants a garden that actually gets used, we can design it simply, build it with pupils where suitable, and set it up so staff can maintain it.

Simple layout
Raised beds or in-ground, matched to your site.
Compost setup
A system pupils understand and use.
Seasonal plan
What to grow and when, without overwhelm.
Ongoing support
So it stays alive after the first excitement.
We’re also creating vegetable systems on the land as part of the wider local food network.
